Let
me remind you of the Old Testament patriarch Abraham from whom all three major
religions have arisen and also remember that there was no established religion
other than the mystical/magic of a pantheon of gods, greater and smaller whom
the people kept altars and statues of in their homes and the main government
religion was the same but on a grander and more public scale. What was so
special about Abraham? In the answer to this question is the entirety of the
Bible, both Old Testament and New Testament. Abraham was special because of
this one verse:
Genesis
15:6 “And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.”
He
simply believed in God.
What
did Jesus say was the most important thing? Simply believe in Him.
There
you have everything. It is very simple and straight forward, no confusion. Now
compare that to what you see around you, confusion, and a variety of beliefs to
the tune of 22,000 denominations of Christian churches around the world. All
these churches started, I am sure, with the basic belief in God and Yeshua, how
did it become so disturbed?
Just
as the belief in God can be counted toward righteousness it is just the
starting point of understanding. Again, this is told to us at the very end of
the Bible when we are told what the minimum expectation is.
Revelation
12:17 “…keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
Again,
how much more simple can that be? Are the Ten Commandments really a burden?
They are reasonable requires for any group of people who wish live a good life.
A
quick summation:
Believe
in God.
Believe
in Jesus.
Follow
and keep the Ten Commandments.
Modern
Christian churches have allowed this simple message to be thoroughly confused
in a cloud of manmade doctrine and other nonsense. Do you believe your church
or do you believe God.
